Real Madrid are reportedly planning to part ways with their manager Zinedine Zidane and replace him with Mauricio Pochettino.

Los Blancos suffered defeat in their last two encounters across competitions and this has mounted pressure on the Frenchman’s position.

They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, October 17, and four days later, they suffered a 3-2 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk at the same venue.

According to Daily Mail, the Frenchman stalled about an hour before arriving for his post-match conference on Wednesday, October 19.

Zidane could be under more pressure if the outcome of his side’s game against Barcelona turns out unfavourable.

Spanish League outlet AS reports that Real president Florentino Perez could consider Pochettino and Raul as possible replacements if they have to show the Frenchman the exit doors.

The publication claims Raul who spent over 15 years winning 16 titles is the ‘ideal option’ for Perez.

He was said to have urged the Spaniard to become the Real Madrid Castilla manager after his time as a LaLiga ambassador in the United States.

Pochettino has been without a club since 2019 but appears to be one of the few coaches available for the job.

The Argentine helped Tottenham Hotspur reach their first-ever Champions League final in the 2018-19 season but lost to fellow Premier League outfit, Liverpool.

After winning the La Liga title last campaign, Zidane was unable to freshen his squad due to the financial hardship caused by the deadly COVID-19.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Zinedine Zidane spent over an hour before appearing for the post-match conference following Real Madrid’s 2-3 home loss to Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 13-time champions trailed by three goals at half time before Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior responded early in the second half, but the visitors managed to wreak havoc as they ran away with all three points.

Zidane paraded a depleted side with Karim Benzema on the bench and then crucial player Eden Hazard ruled out of the game through injury.
