Timo Werner Matches Eden Hazard's Chelsea Record After Fulham Masterclass

– Timo Werner was impressive against Fulham at the weekend as he assisted both Chelsea goals in their 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge

– The brace of assists took his tally to 10, adding to his haul of goals that he has scored for Chelsea across competitions so far this season

– He has now equalled Eden Hazard’s feat of double figures in his debut season for the west Londoners in 2012/13

Despite coming under fire this season for missing easy chances, Timo Werner has managed to equal a long-standing record set by Eden at Chelsea.

The criticism was more intense after the Blues’ 1-1 draw vs Real Madrid in the Champions League when the London side settled for a disappointing draw away in Spain.

The German was slated by supporters for missing glorious chances which would have otherwise earned his side a comfortable win.

It was initially thought he would be dropped for Chelsea’s subsequent matches including Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Fulham.

However, he was slotted in the starting line-up for the starting XI, with the German international repaying Thomas Tuchel’s faith in him with a masterclass performance.

Whereas forward did not find the back of the net during his side’s 2-0 win, he did play an integral part in the victory.

Werner set up Kai Havertz for the opener inside just 10 minutes of gameplay before assisting his countryman for the second goal shortly after the break.

The two assists meant Werner now has 10 of them this season across competitions for Chelsea.

He now has double figures for goals and assists so far this season, affording him a place in Chelsea’s history books.

He has now become the first Blues player since Eden to match the feat in their debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard, who later dumped the west London club for Real Madrid accomplished the feat during the 2012/13 season.

Speaking on his side’s performance, Tuchel hailed the duo of Mount and Werner for playing a central role in the result.

The win effectively cemented their place in the top four as they are now placed fourth on the standings with 61 points, six above fifth-placed West Ham.

They will now shift their focus to their upcoming Champions League meeting with Real Madrid.

The second leg tie will be staged at Stamford Bridge with a place in the finals of the competition at stake.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Thomas Tuchel has collected 11 topflight clean sheets from 15 matches following Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

The German boss has now beaten the likes of Jose Mourinho and Luiz Felipe Scolari who opened their campaigns as Blues managers with ten clean sheets out of 15 game.

Chelsea are now looking comfortable in the Premier League’s top four, a place in the FA Cup finals as well as a Champions League semi final berth.
