Trespasser David Debney, 24, has been found guilty of brutally assaulting a dementia sufferer in her care home
An evil thug has been jailed for 12 years after he launched a brutal unprovoked attack on a dementia sufferer who later died by battering her over the head with a LAMP.
Trespasser David Debney left 60-year-old Denise Crowton with horrific facial injuries during the sickening assault as she lay in her bed at a care home.
The 24-year-old entered The Ridings Nursing Home, in Castle Vale, Birmingham in the early hours of June 24, 2017.
He then launched the frenzied attack on the his helpless and immobile victim, who required 24 hour care, and hit her with the lamp in her ground floor room.
A court heard Debney struck sometime just before 3am – just after Denise had been checked and deemed fit and well by the care home workers.
The thug then went on to threaten and attempt to assault three staff members, who eventually managed to get him out of the care home.
It was after this confrontation that staff made the shocking discovery of Denise’s severe injuries in her room.
Debney was arrested the same morning inside Castle Vale Football Stadium having climbed a 16ft fence and entered the stadium as a trespasser.
However, he fell from the fence injuring himself in the process and was unable to escape before being found by the groundsman.

Denise passed away six months after the attack but no causal link was found between the assault and her death.
Debney, of Yardley, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to three counts of assault on the staff members, but denied wounding.
He was found guilty of the charge by a jury and was jailed for 12 years at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday.
Denise’s daughter has today released pictures of her mother’s horrific injuries as she lay in hospital in 2017.

Inspector Richard Marsh, from West Midlands Police Force CID, said after the case: ‘This was a truly sickening attack on a vulnerable woman who was unable to walk or communicate.
‘Denise was truly a helpless woman who was of no threat to anyone and especially not to Debney, a stranger, who broke into her room and subjected her to such a frenzied attack.
‘Denise sadly passed away of natural causes, but I am glad the man who made her last days even more intolerable is now behind bars.’
