Cristiano Ronaldo fans have criticized Lionel Messi after failing to score in Barcelona’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico, Daily Star.

The Argentine has not scored in the epic contest since Ronaldo left Los Blancos for Juventus in the summer of 2018.

The win took Zinedine Zidane’s side back to the top of La Liga after losing two consecutive matches against Cadiz and Shakhtar Donestk.

On the other hand, Barca are in 12th position with seven points from a possible 15 but have played two games short.

Ronaldo and Messi have always been the center of attraction in El Clasico and some fans believe CR7 has a record better record than his rival.

The Portuguese star is the topscorer in El Clasico games played at the Camp Nou with 12 goals during his nine-year spell with Real while Messi has 11 goals in 17 seasons

Fans also used Ronaldo’s better goal ratio at El Clasico over Messi as a point of reference in the argument on social media.

One fan tweeted:

“Never forget the fact that since Cristiano left Madrid, he has scored as many goals in El Clasicos as Messi has.”

Another replied:

“I remember when the haters used to say CR7 didn’t score in big games.”

A third fan said Ronaldo has scored five goals in five matches this season while Messi has only three in eight matches which have all come from the penalty spot.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi’s reputation could be over if he decides to leave Barcelona for Man City when his contract expires in 2021, according to LaLiga president Javier Tebas, Daily Mail.

After the controversy surrounding his departure from the Camp Nou last summer, the 33-year-old decided to see out the remainder of his contract with his boyhood club.

And Premier League side City are the only club willing to match Messi’s wage bill and have made series of mouth-watering offers to the Argentine.
