The Premier League table had some adjustments following the results of matches that were played over the weekend.

The biggest news of the English topflight division was that Tottenham moved back to top of the league after holding Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to a goalless draw.

Liverpool dropped precious points at Brighton courtesy of an overtime penalty as it propelled Spurs back to the top on goals difference.

Manchester United produced a five-star second-half performance to overturn a two-goal first-half deficit to beat Southampton 3-2 at Saint Mary’s.

Edison Cavani ran the show after coming on in the second 45 minutes to provide a goal for Bruno Fernandes and grabbing a brace including a 92nd-minute winner to move United to eighth.

However, Southampton’s loss was their first in seven matches but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side remain in the top five positions.

Arsenal continued their worst start of a Premier League season in 39 years following their 2-1 loss to Wolves at the Emirates.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side moved into the top six while the Gunners slipped further down on the log to 14th, just eight points above the relegation zone.

West Brom finally got their first win of the season away at Sheffield United as the Blades remain the only team in the English league without a win.

Riyad Mahrez produced the individual performance of the week scoring a hat-trick against Burnley in their 5-0 win as they climbed one step to tenth.

Leeds United are making their Premier League status known following a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Crystal Palace dropped to 15th while the Magpies moved up to 13th following their 2-0 loss to Newcastle at Selhurst Park in the first fixture of matchday 10.

Leicester City have the opportunity to go level on points with Tottenham and Liverpool as well as displacing Chelsea in third place if they defeat Fulham at the King Power Stadium.

On the other hand, West Ham could rise above Everton and Man United in the top eight if they record a win over Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi’s destination next summer has taken a new twist as Chelsea have declared their interest in signing the Argentine forward, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

Things will not come easy for the London club as they will be battling Manchester city who have all the odds favouring them to land the Barcelona captain.

Balague said on his YouTube channel that the Blues owned by billionaire businessman Roman Abramovic are now in the equation for the 33-year-old.
