Texas trucks: NASCAR leader Nemechek wins 2nd race in row
John Hunter Nemechek won his second consecutive NASCAR truck race, leading the final 22 laps and finishing more than 3.3 seconds ahead of reigning Cup champion Chase Elliott on a steamy Saturday in Texas. Nemechek, already the series points leader, got his fourth victory this season and 10th in his career a day after his 24th birthday. “I feel like we’ve been making a statement all year,” said Nemechek, who also won at Phoenix in the previous truck race two weeks ago.

SRX or bust: CBS not looking for more motorsports in lineup
CBS Sports is not using the Superstar Racing Experience as a soft opening for more motorsports, and chairman Sean McManus ruled out IndyCar joining the network next year. McManus told The Associated Press the CBS Sports calendar is too crowded with too many conflicts — the PGA Tour went head-to-head this year with the Indianapolis 500 — for the network to attempt to acquire IndyCar’s television rights.

NASCAR All-Star race will be Texas-sized sendoff for Gossage
An All-Star race in the Lone Star State, with at least five restarts over 100 laps, a few inversion gimmicks and $1 million for the winning driver. NASCAR is providing quite a night to mark the 25th season of racing at Texas Motor Speedway and sendoff for track president and showman Eddie Gossage, whose last race is Sunday after overseeing the track since its groundbreaking in 1995, two years before it opened. Texas is the third track in three years for NASCAR’s annual non-points All-Star race.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova came close to claiming a maiden Grand Slam title in her 52nd appearance in the main draw of a major, but after Saturday’s French Open final she said she was ultimately betrayed by her own body. She fought throughout but bowed out with a 6-1 2-6 6-4 defeat as her Czech opponent, Barbora Krejcikova, won her first Grand Slam title. Actually in the third set during the Sabalenka match, I said to myself, ‘If I win this match, I’m going to cry’.
