One of the two confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Georgia is a student enrolled in a Woodstock homeschool cooperative.The two Georgia residents who have tested positive for coronavirus are a 15-year-old enrolled at Living Science Homeschool Study Center in Woodstock and his father. Both live in Fulton County. The other residents of the household are being tested for the virus, according to recent news reports.Cherokee County School District spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said in a release Wednesday that the home study center was temporarily closed due to the student’s diagnosis.”We do not oversee private schools or home school students, but the Georgia Department of Health will notify us if any students who attend private school or who are home schooled and are diagnosed with COVID-19 have a household connection to CCSD,” Jacoby said.Jacoby stressed that there are no confirmed cases in Cherokee County, though there are residents in the county under self-quarantine due to recent travel outside the U.S.Living Science founder Lance Davis said that the school is closed until March 12.Living Science is a Christian homeschool center that began in 1996 in the founders’ basement and moved to its current five-acre campus in 2004.
