Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu on Friday night, May 7, continued with his superb goal-scoring form for Belgian side Genk this term netting the first goal in their 3-0 win over Club Brugge.

Club Brugge went into this encounter with the determination to shock Paul Onuachu and his teammates in front of their faithfuls, but they ended up losing the tie.

The visitors almost scored the first goal in the 5th minutes after Hans Vanaken delivered a good pass for Bas Dost, but he was unable to beat Genk goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt.

First 45 minutes ended with the two teams finding it hard to score in what was a tough battle at the Luminus Arena.

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu eventually opened scoring for Genk in the 57th minute and it was Bryan Heynen who delivered the superb pass for the Super Eagles man.

Onuachu’s goal was his 31st this season in the Belgian Premier League which is an incredible record for the Super Eagles striker.

Junya Ito scored the second goal for Genk in the 74th minute after receiving a nice pass from Kristian Thorstvedt.

One minute later, Kristian Thorstvedt scored the third and last goal for Genk as he benefited from an assist by Theo Bongonda.

Paul Onuachu and his teammates at Genk will be facing Anderlecht in their next game on Wednesday, May 12 which is expected to be another big game.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu thanked Nigerians following his late strike that sunk the Squirrels of Benin right in their backyard in Porto-Novo.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the AFCON 2021 showpiece in Cameroon as Onuachu headed home a rebound after a goal-mouth scramble to help his side win 1-0 away from home.

Nigerians had blasted Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for failing to include the Genk striker in the squad despite him scoring 27 goals so far for his club this season.

Many are of the opinion that the tactician insulted the Nigerian striker by putting him on the standby list.
