A spokesperson from the hotel said: ‘Yesterday we became aware of this utterly deplorable incident and immediately launched a comprehensive investigation.

‘To date we have found that the report at the time of the incident neglected any detail of the seriousness of what happened. We have reported the incident to the police.

‘The individual concerned is no longer associated with the hotel in any way.

‘We are shocked and appalled by his actions and apologise to the individual and the public for what occurred.’

She confirmed that the unnamed man was employed by a ‘third party’ security contractor.

In the footage, the victim dressed in a winter jacket with florescent yellow stripes, low slung jeans and a woolly hat, is seen being questioned as he stands outside the famous hotel entrance, which is festooned in Christmas decorations.

Security staff look on as the victim lies on the floor, trying to protect himself from the volley of blows by lifting his knees towards his chest before he is kicked in the face twice.

At the end of the shocking clip, the assailant pulls himself up on one of the hotel’s giant flower-pots next to the doorway and jumps with both feet onto the victim’s upper body.

A Savoy doorman wearing black top hat and tails is seen flinching and turning away in alarm – as another man with two dogs tried to intervene.
