All 20 Serie A clubs have outlined a deadline of resuming the league by May 9, with the aim of continuing into the middle of July in order to finish the season.
All teams in the Italian top flight met today via video conference to discuss how best to conclude the Serie A season.
The original date of the current suspension is due to end on April 3, however it looks increasingly likely that with the number of Coronavirus cases rising every day, that date will pass without play resuming.
Multiple reports in Italy now state that the clubs have set a provisional date of May 9 for the championship to return to play, and continuing until the middle of July.
In the case of loans and players becoming free agents on June 30, contracts would be extended until the end of the 2019-20 season.
This is however not set in stone, and could change, with the clubs to convene again in a few days.
There are more than 15,000 active cases of the disease in Italy.
