Senator Orji mourns late Abia Commissioner, Ogunji

Former Abia Governor and the current Senator representing Abia central senatorial zone, Chief Theodore Orji, has expressed heavy shock over the death of Dr. Solomon Ogunji, the State Commissioner for Environment.

Recall that the Abia Commissioner for Environment, Chief Solomon Ogunji, was on Sunday, confirmed dead.

In a press release issued by the State Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, and made available to reporters, Ogunji passed on Saturday at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba, after a brief illness related to High blood pressure

However, Senator Orji, Monday, sympathized with the family of Dr. Ogunji and the good people of the state.

He said that late Ogunji died while his services were still highly needed and prayed to God Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest.

Orji maintained that God knows what happened and why it happened this time around, and further prayed that God gives the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, an Igbo socio-cultural youth organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council,(OYC), Worldwide, has Ogunji’s death.

Ogunji until his demise, was the National Deputy Secretary-General of the pan-Igbo ethnic group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo-led by Chief John Nnia Nwodo.

In a condolence message contained in a press release signed by OYC President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the Secretary-General, Okwu Nnabuike, on Monday, Ohanaeze described Ogunji’s demise as a painful loss to Ndigbo and Abia State Government.

The group said it had declared four Market days of mourning in honour of late Solomon Ogunji.

Ohanaeze youth called on southeast Governors Forum and Igbos to immortalize late Solomon Ogunji, whom it said devoted a lot to the service of Igbo nation until his unexpected death.

Parts of the message stated partly, “This is the first time a National Executive Member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo died in office while rendering service for the Igbo nation. OYC will surely immortalize Dr. Solomon Ogunji by naming our library project after him.

“OYC consoles Governor Okezie Ikpeazu over the death of his close ally and schoolmate. May God grant Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Ogunji’s family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss and grant Dr. Solomon Ogunji eternal rest”.
