Second man is arrested on suspicion of murder

A pregnant mother whose baby was delivered after she was stabbed to death in London posted a heartbreaking message on Facebook before she died.

Kellymary Fauvrelle, 26, who was eight months pregnant, has been named as the victim whose baby was saved after emergency services rushed to Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath at 3.30am on Saturday.

The one-day-old baby was cut from his dying mother’s womb after the knifing – and ‘is unlikely to survive’.

But before she died, Ms Kellymary put a picture of her ultrasound on Facebook, with the caption: ‘Happy Valentine’s sweet pea … we can’t wait to meet you.’

The devastated aunt of the victim, revealed that the newborn is a little boy after police today made a second arrest following the attack in south London on Saturday.

Police arrested a 37-year-old male yesterday, who has now been released under investigation.

This is while a 29-year-old man has now been arrested and has been taken to a south London police station – where he currently remains.

The baby, who was delivered at the scene is still in a critical condition in hospital. 

Speaking from her home in Crystal Palace, south east London, Rosa Fauvrelle, Kellymary’s aunt said: ‘It’s my husband’s niece. He’s at the hospital because they are doing a little blessing because they think the baby might not survive.

‘Everyone’s on edge and everyone’s very short-fused.’

‘No one knows anything at the moment. We don’t know we really don’t know what happened.’

Today forensic officers were pictured leaving the property and officers remained on the scene. Specialist investigators could be seen swabbing surfaces in an alleyway running along the side of the house while police officers guarded a cordon at the front of the property.

The entirety of Raymead Avenue has also been closed off as officers today prepare to do a full sweep of the road. 

Mrs Fauvrelle added that she doesn’t know who has been arrested and that they had heard on the news that two people had been arrested.

‘Nobody is communicating with each other. So everybody at the moment is very hysterical. Very tired.

‘People want answers and we’re just not getting anywhere. I know today they have gone to the hospital as they said if you want you can bring a priest in.

‘I think that’s what they are doing. I don’t think the baby is going to make it. I think a decision has to be made on that today.’

A Scotland Yard statement said: ‘Detectives investigating the murder of a pregnant woman in Croydon have made a second arrest and have named the victim as Kelly Mary Fauvrelle.

‘A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, June 29 on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains at this time.

‘A 37-year-old male arrested that same day has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.’

Speaking of Kellymary, Mrs Fauvrelle said her spirits had been lifted when she had found out she was pregnant. 

‘All Kelly wanted was to be a mum. That’s all she wanted. When she found out she was pregnant I think that really lifted her spirits.

‘She was a sweetheart an absolute sweetheart. The most gentle loving person and being a mum was all she dreamed about.

‘I don’t know very much about the father of the baby. I don’t know her that well.

‘We’re all so busy we don’t have time to sit down until something horrible happens. It’s a little boy. I don’t know what they named him.’

London Mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted: ‘Violence against women has no place in our city, and horrific murders in the home like this show the scale of the problem we face.’

Khan’s tweet continued: ‘My heart goes out to this innocent child, and to the mother they have so tragically lost.’

One neighbour told the Mail on Sunday he had heard the sound of police dogs rifling through the property in the early hours of the morning.

He added: ‘It was pretty loud, it woke us up. We heard screaming, and then we saw police and paramedics. Later on I saw another woman come out and just collapse on the street.’

Ms Fauvrelle was a keen motorcyclist and shared an image of an ultrasound in February, saying ‘looks like riding season is on hold for me this year.’ 

On her Facebook bio she wrote: ‘4 wheels move the body…but… 2 wheels move the soul.’

In March last year she passed her bus driving test ‘with pretty much full marks’ with Arriva London – who operate Transport for London’s buses.

One friend commented: ‘The only way is UP, well done Kelly.’

Shaun Bailey, the Conservative London mayoral candidate, tweeted: ‘Please God let this child survive. Please let this baby’s family come together to free it from this most heinous arrival to our world.’ 

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said: ‘This is a horrific incident in which a young mother has lost her life and her child is critically ill.

‘Our sympathies go out to her devastated family; they are being supported by specially trained officers following this awful event, and I would ask that they are left alone at this time as they come to terms with the enormity of what has happened.

‘A large crime scene is in place, and is likely to be in place for some time.’

The mother is the 64th murder victim this year in the blood-drenched capital.

Yusuf Mohamed became London’s 63rd murder victim of the year when he was stabbed to death in Shepherd’s Bush on Wednesday – despite witnesses claiming he put his arms up to show the attackers he wasn’t armed.
