Claudio Ranieri and Stefano Pioli are both candidates for the Sampdoria and Genoa benches, as it’s all change at Marassi.
Both clubs seem ready to pull the plug on their respective Coaches, as Eusebio Di Francesco lost six of his opening seven Serie A games on the Samp bench, while Aurelio Andreazzoli has one point from the last five at Genoa.
According to the latest reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, two names are appearing on both wish-lists.
Ranieri is fresh from his brief experience as caretaker manager of Roma and is believed to be the first choice for Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero, whereas his director of sport Carlo Osti favours Pioli.
A third alternative is Beppe Iachini, a familiar face to Blucerchiati supporters.
However, Genoa are also being linked with both Ranieri and Pioli, along with third pick Davide Nicola.
It’s very likely both clubs in the Derby della Lanterna will have new tacticians in charge once the break for international duty is over.
