Rodgers in a post-match interview confirmed that the Nigerian international may need to undergo surgery to correct his groin problem.

He told Sky Sports:

“We are just waiting to hear more on that, but he could be anything between six and 12 weeks.

“It is an abductor injury – it may have come off the bone which could be a nasty injury, so we will wait to see if needs an operation – it does then it will be 12 weeks.”

Ndidi has also excused himself from representing Nigeria during the international friendlies against Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia in Austria.

Rodgers has played Ndidi as a center-back in their opening two league fixtures and they have conceded two and scored seven goals so far.

Leicester City will test their Premier League credentials against Manchester City at the Etihad before the international break.

The Foxes currently on top of the Premier League table on goal-difference following consecutive wins over West Brom and Burnley.
