Former American Sprinter Lee Evans who set many incredible records during his active days in Sports has died in Nigeria after suffering stroke for some weeks and was hospitalized.
Lee Evans was the Black American runner who won two gold medals at the racially charged 1968 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico.
According to the report on Thisdaylive, former Super Eagles striker Segun Odegbami raised an alarm earlier this month about the health issues the deceased had.
Odegbami was said to have explained that Lee Evans was having dinner with him last week before he collapsed.
Evans’ protest at the 1968 Olympic Games made headlines, but it was not the one that shocked the world at those Games.
He was not then at how Blacks were being treated and wanted to use his status as an Olympian to change the situation.
Evans continued to compete in 400-meter races after his 1968 Olympic triumphs, but he never again dominated the event as he had in Mexico City.
He won the United States national championships in 1969 and 1972, but finished fourth in the 1972 Olympic trials.

According to Morgan, his personal top 10 eclipsed him (Brady) in terms of dominance in their respective sport or pure genius.
The ex-Daily Mirror editor also said that Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is ahead of Messi, Pele, Diego Maradona and a host of others.
