The shores of Monaco were today graced by a futuristic £360 million super Yacht believed to be the largest of its kind in the world.

Modestly named ‘Sailing Yacht A’ the super duper yacht dwarfed all competition in the bay, belittling the boats of the mere millionaires surrounding it.

It is owned by Russian billionaire industrialist Andrey Melnichenko, 47, who made his £11bn fortune manufacturing and trading in fertiliser and coal.

The magnificent vessel spans 468ft in length and has three masts taller than London‘s Elizabeth Tower, which houses Big Ben, at 328ft.

Powered by a ‘hybrid diesel-electric package with controllable pitch propellers,’ the ship is designed to accommodate 20 guests and a crew of 54.

The vessel was designed by Philippe Starck and has eight floors, a helicopter pad, a full size swimming pool and an underwater observation room on board.

Belarus-born Mr Melnichenko lives a glamorous, jet-setting lifestyle with his wife, Aleksandra, a former model and pop star from Serbia.

The ship named ‘Sailing Yacht A’ sits on the shores of Monaco, too large to move much closer to the harbour and into shallower waters

Three masts imitate a traditional sailing boat – it is classified as a ‘sail assisted’ motor yacht –  the ship is powered with a hybrid diesel-electric package with controllable pitch propellers

Smaller super yachts that usually are the largest around seem minuscule in comparison to the enormous boat

An underwater observation deck allows passengers to see the sea life beneath the hull as it moves along the world’s most desirable shores

The boat was completed by a team led by Dirk Kloosterman, who was handpicked by Mr Melnichenko for his vast experience with super yachts
