Roma have not given up on Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, but also eye up Daniele Rugani and Lucas Verissimo.
The Giallorossi had been in advanced negotiations with Spurs for Alderweireld, as they need a centre-back to replace Napoli’s Kostas Manolas.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, La Repubblica and others, Roma are ready to meet Spurs again over the next couple of days to discuss Alderweireld.
He did have a release clause in his contract, but that has now expired, so Tottenham are jacking up the price-tag to €40m.
If Roma fail to strike an agreement again, they could turn towards Fiorentina’s German Pezzella, Juventus benchwarmer Daniele Rugani or Santos centre-back Verissimo.
