– Robin van Persie claimed Louis van Gaal slapped him at 2014 World Cup

– That was because of his refusal to be subbed in the game against Costa Rica

– Gaal was the coach of Holland then and they went on to reach the semifinal

Ex Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has revealed how he got a slap from Louis van Gaal after his refusal to be subbed at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Robin van Persie was known as one of the best strikers during his active playing days in the Premier League where he succeeded with the Gunners and at Old Trafford.

But six years ago, he saw the red eyes of his then manager at the national team Louis van Gaal in a World Cup quarterfinal match against Costa Rica.

These two nations were very strong at the 2014 World Cup and they wanted to get to the last four for the possibility of them reaching the final where they would have the chance of winning.

However, the regulation time ended goalless as both sides failed to find the back of the net in what was a tough encounter in Brazil.

And when the extra time began, Robin van Persie had a cramp in which Louis van Gaal wanted him to be substituted which the player refused.

Louis van Gaal kept on shouting at the touchline for Van Persie to come out, but the former Arsenal striker wanted to play in the penalties.

After the full time whistle was blown, Robin van Persie explained that Louis van Gaal came to him angrily and hit him.

”He came to me at the touchline with a slap and warned me never to do that again with him,” Van Persie explained according to report on UK Sun.

The 36-year-old striker who was known for his superb goal scoring sense stated that Sir Alex Ferguson slammed two Manchester United players in front of their teammates in 2013.

During that year, Manchester United were aiming to win the Premier League title in which they lost at home against City which was a painful defeat for Alex Ferguson then.

And after the defeat which made Manchester United 12 points clear off the table, two first team players decided to go to night party.
