Reports: Madrid go for Reina

Speculation is intensifying in Spain that Real Madrid are ready to pounce for Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

A substitute shot-stopper may be needed at the Santiago Bernabeu as Keylor Navas wants out.

Now, according to AS, Reina is Madrid’s first choice to fill that role.

The 36-year-old is currently No 2 at Milan, but the newspaper is adamant he would accept playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.

Despite beginning his career with Barcelona, he was born in Madrid and was part of the Spain squads that won two European Championships and a World Cup.

Failing that, AS claims Los Blancos could move for Roma veteran Antonio Mirante, who is competing with Robin Olsen and Daniel Fuzato to be Pau Lopez’s deputy.

Marca, meanwhile, writes that while Reina is a target, he is on a shortlist that also contains Willy Caballero, Diego Benaglio and Giallorossi old boy Maarten Stekelenburg.
