The minister of justice and solicitor general of Province of Alberta in Canada, Kelechi Madu, has been gifted Nigerian jersey number 9 by his staff.

The Nigerian man took to his LinkedIn page to express joy over having the best staff in the legislature.

Madu shared a picture of himself displaying the jersey and he was flanked by his staff. The minister and the staff could be seen with their face masks on.

The minister said he wore jersey number 9 while playing football but the latter was interrupted because of law school.

He wrote:

“I do want to thank the staff in my office for this surprise gift of my country of birth, Nigeria’s national soccer team jersey. 9 was my number when I played soccer, which was interrupted because of law school. I am fortunate to have the best staff in the Legislature.”

Legit.ng previously reported that Madu expressed his gratitude to Nigerians after his appointment as minister of justice and solicitor general of Province of Alberta.

Taking to his Twitter page to thank Nigerians, the minister said he looks forward to the day when Nigeria and Africa become places where hard work and merit are rewarded.

He tweeted:

“Thank you for all the support and prayers coming from Nigeria and Nigerians in the Diaspora. I look forward to the day when Nigeria and Africa become places where hard work and merit are rewarded. Chukwu Gozie!”
