Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, is currently trending on social media yet again and this time, it has to do with his nationality.
The self-acclaimed African Giant whose recent Grammy win earned him major applause from Nigerians has stated that he is not a Nigerian artiste.

Burna Boy made this known in response to a tweet that jokingly addressed his critics, saying that he would soon exit Twitter.
“Me wey no even be Nigerian artist,” his response reads.

Reacting to the bold statement, a follower pointed out despite not identifying as a Nigerian, the Kilometer crooner promotes African culture. He went on to accuse the singer of denying his motherland.
Burna Boy responded to his post, making it known that even though he is from Nigeria and lives in the country, he has never benefitted from her.
“Na only cruise dey here,” he said.

Recall that a few days after emerging as a Grammy-winning artiste, Burna Boy returned to pay homage to a place where it all started for him.
The singer arrived in Port-Harcourt for a homecoming event to celebrate his milestone and he was given nothing short of a royal welcome.
