Project this creepy animated spinster onto a wall or window for an extra-special Halloween night.

AtmosFX

This year’s sure-to-be-social-distanced Halloween is the perfect time to raise your decoration game. One of my favorite options: Halloween-themed animations from AtmosFX. You use a projector to cast them into a window, onto a garage door or the like. I’ve done exactly that (and written about it here) the past few years — my neighbors love them.

Interested? For a limited time, Cheapskate readers can get the Sinister Spinster Decoration for free with promo code CHEAPSKATEFREESPINSTER. Regular price: $10. The code is valid through Oct. 23.

When you’re done, you’ll be able to download your MP4 video files, which consist of three different scenes. These can be projected on a wall or window or even used to create a holographic effect (known here as “hollusion”) on a translucent sheet. AtmosFX provides excellent how-to videos for all these options.

Don’t have a projector? Good news: You don’t need a fancy high-end model for this — pretty much any inexpensive LED projector should do the trick. Just copy the video to a memory card or flash drive, pop it in and set the projector to repeat.

Here’s one option: This Xiaoya mini projector is $93 when you clip the on-page $10-off coupon.

The only wrinkle: I don’t know for certain that this model has the all-important autorepeat option. That’s a common feature in most of the cheapie projectors I’ve tried, but there’s always the possibility this one won’t have it.

Even if you just end up showing the animation on your TV, though, this is a really cool addition to your Halloween festivities. I remain a huge fan of this AtmosFX stuff.
