While the photo was allegedly liked in early October 2020, it was not removed until November 14, after the Catholic News Agency (CNA) asked the Holy See Press Office for comment.
The news agency reported an official for the Holy See Press Office had not commented on the incident but the internal investigation was underway.
It further noted sources close to the Vatican press had confirmed to it that the pope’s social media accounts were managed by a team of employees
The investigations were launched after the 27-year-old model Natalia Garibotto told her social media audience that the pontiff’s account was among the 133,000 that had liked an image of her on November 13.
The picture liked by the pope’s account featured Garibotto wearing a lingerie outfit that resembled a school uniform with her mostly-uncovered behind visible.

Garibotto’s management and publicity firm is said to have used the papal account’s like for publicity purposes, posting on its account that the firm had “received the Pope’s official blessing”.
Neither Garibotto nor Pope Francis’ official account follows each other on Instagram.
Pope Francis’s Instagram account does not follow any other accounts.
Meanwhile, Legit.com had earlier reported how Pope Francis on Friday, May 15, said that the deadly coronavirus should make all of across the world look after those who are vulnerable, especially the sick and displaced.
The public appeal is part of the message intended for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees which the Catholic Church celebrates every September 27.
