The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Abdurrahman, has declared one Ifeanyi Ukwuani, wanted for defiling a 10-year old girl at Egede Community of Udi Local Government Area of the state.
A statement signed by ASP Daniel Ndukwe Ekea said Abdurrahman who ordered a full investigation into the case noted that the Mile Police Division of the Command on 9th March 2020 received report of the alleged rape.
He said preliminary investigation linked the perpetrator of the ugly act to one Ifeanyi Ukwuani, the son of an old woman whom the victim lives with as a house help at the said location.
”The investigation further reveals that the said suspect had left his wife and children in Enugu Metropolis and gone to his mother’s house on the said date and place to perpetrate the offence and thereafter, fled to an unknown destination.”
The Commissioner of Police has now asked the public to come forward with any information on the whereabouts of the suspect
He said the suspects arrest and prosecution will serve as a deterrent to those ‘hell-bent on committing such callous and mindless offences in the State.
He also ordered the case be transferred to the State CID for discreet investigation.
Abdurrahman called on security stakeholders and partners as well as the good citizens of Enugu State to provide it with credible information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.
