Playing cards while parachuting: Entrants in the Guinness World Records 2020

Once it was simply a matter of faster, higher, stronger. Now, it seems, you need to add wackier.

For the feats that have made it into the latest Guinness World Records annual include the furthest an arrow has been shot using the archer’s feet, the most magic tricks done during a skydive and the fastest garden shed.

Those who made it through and got a record were up against stiff competition as each year a whopping 50,000 people apply, with the competition organisers receiving around 1,000 applications every week.

To break a record, those entering must ensure they have something measurable to bring to the table, is it the longest, the fastest or the heaviest?

This year however, it seems that the more traditional world records such as the heaviest weight to be lifted have been shunned for lavish entries, such as the world’s most expensive milkshake.

So who are this years winners?

This year’s Guinness World Records has been revealed and it includes a whole host of strange entries which will come as a surprise to many

Farthest arrow shot using feet

Former circus performer Brittany Walsh, of Portland, Oregon, earned her place by firing an arrow 40ft 4in, operating the bow with her feet while doing a handstand on a pole. How many others have attempted this feat is unclear.

Brittany’s skills requires a large amount of training in order for her to have the optimal amount of flexibility and balance required to undertake this great technique.

She has an 11-year career as a circus performer and her charismatic charm comes across in her performances.  Over the past year she has been working in Las Vegas, performing at Planet Hollywood and The Venetian.

Most magic tricks performed in a single skydive

Magician Martin Rees from London, who already holds the records for card tricks during a parachute jump (11) and in three minutes in a wind tunnel (8), managed a new best of 24 in a minute while blindfolded.

As well as his most recent achievement, Martin has also performed at a whole host of venues across the UK and doesn’t seem to be throwing in the magic wand any time soon.

In 2018 he also earned a record for the Most Magic Performed Blindfolded in One Minute on Britain’s Got Talent at the Blackpool Winter Gardens.

The fastest garden shed

Kevin Nicks, 54, from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, has covered 34,000 miles since fitting an Audi RS4 4.2 V8 engine and wheels to his shed. He has reportedly driven at over 100mph but his top verified speed is 80.67mph.

This will be the third year in a row that the speedy shed has beat its own record, and doesn’t seem to be halting the brakes.

Just last year Kevin hit a top speed of 101.581mph during the record bid at Pendine Sands, Carmarthenshire.

The most expensive milkshake

Containing donkey milk, ice cream, vanilla, caramel, cocoa, nuts and maraschino cherries, it is served in a glass studded with Swarovski crystals.

However, people based in the UK might be dissapointed as this culinary delight is only available in New York in a stunning embellished glass.

But you will need to exchange your pounds for dollars and wont see much change as the price tag for the tasty treat will set you back $100.

She is a dance teacher from Bakersfield and in  2010 Swidecki broke the Guinness World Record for the ‘longest marathon on a dance or rhythm game’, playing Dance Dance Revolution for more than fifteen hours.
