The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is alarmed by the robbery attempt reported near Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The nation’s lead opposition party in a statement posted via its official Twitter page and seen by . on Tuesday, May 11, said the development further points to the collapse of the security command structure under President Muhammadu Buhari.
The party added that the reported bandit assault on the residence of the Chief of Staff to the president, Ibrahim Gambari, within the precinct of the Presidential Villa, has heightened apprehensions over the capacity of the Buhari-led administration to secure the nation.
It added that any security breach at the Presidential Villa which is the seat of power and national sovereignty sends a clear danger signal to the overall security of the nation.
The party expressed doubt over the capacity of President Buhari to secure the entire country. Nevertheless, it advised the president to review his security architecture and take decisive steps to secure the nation.
Ferris Omatule said:
“Even the PDP seems to know what is happening and they are afraid to say it as it is.
“All of these are due to power play going on around the Villa. The security, particularly the army and DSS are involved. No one is secured in this country again except who God secures.”

In a related development, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, a pan-Igbo group, has demanded full investigations of the armed men suspected to be robbers that attempted to burgle the residence of the Chief of Staff and another senior presidential aide.
Ohanaeze said the development shows that “things fall apart and centre cannot hold”.
The group said the development in Aso Rock is “an attempt by bandits to make a mockery of Presidency’s incapacity to protect themselves and Nigerians and an eye-opener for Nigerians to protect themselves”.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops in Nigeria have also called on President Buhari to address the insecurity and unemployment in the country.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN)’s call was contained in a statement issued by its president, Augustine Akubeze.
The religious leaders advised the president to refrain from focussing his energy on critics who disagree with his performance.
