Cagliari striker Leonardo Pavoletti underwent knee surgery today and is expected to be out of action for seven months.
The Italy international limped off with a left knee problem during the opening game of the Serie A season against Brescia.
Tests showed he had damaged the anterior cruciate ligament as well as the external meniscus.
Pavoletti went under the knife today in Innsbruck and a statement released by Cagliari confirms he is expected to make a full recovery in circa seven months.
Curiously, in the same Hochrum clinic in Innsbruck, Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini also had surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament and is out for six months.
Pavoletti’s management team posted a picture on Instagram of the pair together, Chiellini on crutches and Pavoletti in his hospital bed with leg raised.
