Premier League giants Chelsea have confirmed that Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer after spending four years with the Blues.

The 39-year-old joined the Stamford Bridge landlords in 2017 from Manchester City as cover up for Thibaut Courtois who later moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

After the Belgian moved to Spain, Caballero was of the expectation of becoming the Blues’ number one goalkeeper, but the club signed Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa Arrizabalaga made some incredible saves when he got to Stamford Bridge, but he later disappointed the club fans which forced the Blues to sign Senegalese goalie Mendy.

And since Mendy got to Chelsea, he has been the club’s number one goalkeeper and recently helped the Blues to win the Champions League.

Caballero made 38 appearances for Chelsea including 11 in the Premier League and last season’s FA Cup final while keeping 14 clean sheets and earning winner’s medals in three different competitions.

According to the confirmation by Chelsea, the Blues wished Willy Caballero success in his future goalkeeping career.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was given hero welcome by his teammates at the Senegalese national team ahead of their coming two international friendly games.

This is because of how the 29-year-old helped Premier League side Chelsea to win the Champions League last month beating rivals Manchester City in the final.

Mendy made incredible saves in the final against Manchester City as he denied the likes of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in a what was a tough match.

Having lost the FA Cup final against Leicester City, Chelsea players were determined to end the season with a prestigious trophy and they did themselves lot of good by beating Man City.

Germany international Kai Havertz scored the only goal that gave Thomas Tuchel their win over Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Goalkeeper Mendy however recorded his name in the history books of football as he is now the first African goalie to win the Champions League.
