The Super Eagles handler Gernot Rohr could be relieved of his duties as Nigeria’s Minister for Sports Sunday Dare has lamented the Super Eagles’ double-draws with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

Nigeria played a 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in the first leg at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on November 13 and then another 0-0 draw with the Leone Stars in Freetown four days later.

Sports minister Sunday Dare lamented the Eagles’ performances in both games as he questions the competence of the team coach Gernot Rohr,

He wrote on his verified Twitter handle:

“The performance of the Super Eagles from their last two matches calls to question the suitability and competences of Technical Adviser, Rohr. Nigerian football deserves better.

“The needful will be done. Apologies to all football lovers.”

The Eagles will be in action again in March 2021 when they will be guests to Benin Republic in continuation of the qualifiers.

They will round off the qualifiers with a home tie against Lesotho.

Recall that the minister as well as the country’s football federation president Amaju Pinnick joined the Super Eagles in their final training session ahead of the all-important AFCON qualifying showdown against Sierra Leone.

Sunday Dare and Amaju Pinnick trained with the squad on Thursday evening, November 12, as the team map out their final strategies ahead of the encounter.

Both football stakeholders took their time to participate in the warm-ups and stretch-outs as the entire team once again expressed their level of togetherness.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles’ technical adviser Gernot Rohr has been likened to the service chiefs in Nigeria who are earning without producing results.

This is coming after stats showed that the three-time African champions failed to win any game in the year 2020. They played four games in all – drawn three and lost one to Algeria in an international friendly game in October.

And this is the first time the Eagles will fail to win a single match all through the year since 1970 after their doubleheader AFCON 2022 qualifiers draw.
