One person was killed while others sustained various degrees of injuries in Gwagwalada on Tuesday when police dispersed hoodlums who attempted to invade Customs College Quarters in search of COVID-19 palliatives believed to have been kept in the area.

The Nation gathered many youths had converged in the area as early as 8am to invade the quarters, which houses a warehouse, containing some COVID-19 palliatives.

However, security operatives at the gate into the quarters, resisted the hoodlums by shooting into the air.

In the process, it was gathered one person was shot while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The shooting of one of the invaders however brought calm to the area as other hoodlums took to their heels.

An eyewitness/resident of the area, Bello Muhammad, noted the hoodlums were those couldn’t participate in the looting of a warehouse in Gwagwalada.

The ongoing looting spree continued as suspected hoodlums invaded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), orientation camp at Kubwa to steal mattresses.

They stormed the camp to loot palliatives believed to have been kept at the facility but on finding none ransacked the dormitories and made away with mattresses.

They were said to have gained access into the premises by scaling the fence catching the soldiers guarding the facility by surprise.

The soldiers fired gunshots in the air to scare away the miscreants, throwing the area into pandemonium.

The incident marked the third day that miscreants have been going around looting warehouses believed to be holding COVID-19 palliatives.

They had attacked some warehouses at the Idu Industrial Estate, Jabi on Sunday and Monday.

They also invaded a warehouse in Gwagwalada belonging to the FCT Administration where three persons were killed.

Our correspondent observed that police helicopter hovered round the place.

The office of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Kubwa was vandalised and computers, among other valuables were carted away.
