Joao Mario says he has joined ‘a great club’ after officially leaving Inter for Lokomotiv Moscow.
Joao Mario moves to Lokomotiv on a season-long loan with an €18m option to buy, and he was presented by his new club on Tuesday evening.
“I’m very happy to join Lokomotiv,” remarked the midfielder.
“I know this is a great club. They’ve signed many famous and experienced players.
“I asked [Manuel] Fernandes and Eder about Lokomotiv when we played for the Portuguese national team.
“I consulted Eder before the transfer. He told me Lokomotiv were a good team with a wonderful atmosphere.
“Their participation in the Champions League is also an important factor.”
The Nerazzurri paid Sporting CP €45m for his services, just a month after he helped Portugal win Euro 2016.
However, the 26-year-old went on to make only 69 competitive appearances in three seasons, scoring four goals.
He also spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign at Premier League outfit West Ham United.
