The number of £1million home sales reached a record high last year – despite a fall in London.
A total of 14,638 went for six figures, with rises seen in Scotland, Wales, across the Midlands and northern England.
However, sales in the capital and the South East – which make up eight in ten £1million-plus transactions – fell, meaning the overall picture was fairly flat.

There was also a slight fall in the number of houses sold for more than £2million, to 2,501.
Louise Santaana of Lloyds Private Banking, which analysed Land Registry and Registers of Scotland figures, said: ‘The high-value property boom the country has experienced over the past decade has decelerated in the past 12 months, which is in line with expectations.
‘However, there are still a number of hotspots across the country, particularly in the East Midlands.’
