In a recent update, the federal government has lifted restrictions placed on religious gatherings in Nigeria amid coronavirus breakout.

However, restaurants, bars, and other social gatherings are to remain closed. Also, schools are yet to be opened and interstate travel is still banned.

Many Nigerians are reacting to the news that religious gatherings can now hold and below are some of the reactions:

Lmao how do you open churches and mosques but prohibit other gatherings above 20 people??? COVID na Pagan?

Prohibits gatherings of over 20 people, but goes ahead to allow reopening of churches and mosques.

Because clearly, coronavirus is a respecter of religion. Thank you Nigeria.

Churches and Mosques are opening, but school’s can’t open till further notice because your government cares so much about your health that they came to realization that Coronavirus cannot enter the church or the mosque because the virus is an atheist. Very thoughtful

The Presidential Task Force decision to open Churches and Mosques while keeping schools closed doesn’t make any sense to me like wtf it’s not gonna make any difference with schools closed !!!! pic.twitter.com/w4Hx0Gzv6O

Churches and mosques are opening but airports are yet to open? I like how we don’t shy away from our priorities in this country.

Oyakhilome and his cohorts can go back to collecting regular tithes and offerings so they’d stop disturbing us with 5G conspiracy theories.

When we had about 100 cases they closed churches and mosques; now we have more than 10k cases and churches and mosques can now open 🤷🏾‍♂️

One question for The Presidential Task Force and Buhari on their clueless decision to open Churches and Mosques and keep schools closed , are Churches and Mosques not gatherings of Nigerians ? why exempt Schools ? pic.twitter.com/AY6vGBJK6j

Now that the Presidential task force said churches and mosques can now gather,

Don’t throw away your sanitizer and face mask,

Treat NCDC daily updates as important like you did 2 months ago,

Continue to stay safe until real life doesn’t look like a movie anymore.

This Government is silly.

What’s the point in keeping restriction on markets and interstate travel, then relaxing Churches and Mosques?

Just admit you have no clue what to do about this situation and open up everything already.
