2. Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, yesterday, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Ayade announced his decision on Thursday morning in a meeting with six APC governors who visited him at the Government House.

3. Abubakar Shekau, leader of a Boko Haram faction, Jama’tu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), was reported dead yesterday after an alleged deadly clash between his men and those of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

4. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, waded into the disagreement between state governors and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over the repayment of the budget support facility obtained by the states. This was contained in a statement by his spokesman, Laolu Akande.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday said that negotiation to determine a new pump price of petrol was still ongoing between the organised labour and the Federal Government. The NNPC, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr Kennie Obateru made this known.
