Former Nigerian winger Finidi George has joined the growing list of ex-international interested in coaching the Super Eagles.

The 49-year-old attacker who won the UEFA Champions League title with Durch League side Ajax Amsterdam reveals he already submitted an application to the Nigeria Football Federation office.

However, he insisted he is not in a hurry for the top job after admitting that he would like to start with the age-grade teams for now adding that he has loads of knowledge to impact in them.

Though coaching the senior team might bring so much exposure, the former Real Betis man feels starting from scratch will birth new ideas with the younger generation.

He has however urged the NFF chieftains to look into his application to handle one of the cadet teams.

I have applied to be the coach of Nigeria team but I don’t want the Super Eagles job now,” he told Legit.ng in an exclusive interview.

I want one of the age-grade teams, perhaps the U-17. I believe I have a lot of ideas and knowledge to share with the younger generation.

He concluded: “So I will like to use the medium to reach out to the federation to look into my application.”

During his time, Finidi George made over 60 appearances for the national team with six goals credited to his name – including his goal at the 1994 World Cup against Bulgaria.

He was part of the squad that won Nigeria’s second Africa Cup of Nations title in Tunisia and retired from national team assignment just before the 2002 edition of the global competition.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles legend Finidi George has named AC Milan icon Paolo Maldini as the toughest opponent he faced in his career before he retired from the game.

The former Real Betis star was one of the best forwards Nigeria ever had considering his pace up his goal-scoring sense which helped him both in the national team and club levels.

Recently, Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos named Finidi George as one of his toughest opponents he met during his active playing days. R
