The Directorate of sports Affairs in Zamfara state, Thursday sacked the management team of Zamfara United football club, saying that misapplication of priorities has shrouded the club.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the governor on sporting activities, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Bagu during a press briefing with newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

According to the Special Adviser, the laid down guidelines of sporting activities that would have helped the club to move forward were not properly put to use which subsequently led to the death of priorities.

Bagu noted that most of the management staff were placed where they were not suppose to be, thereby making the performance of the club to be moving in the lowest ebb, hence the need to dissolve the management team of the club for restructuring.

” Despite the abundant human resources and millions spent on the club by the state government, the club is still the story of failure and constant defeat than progress as a result of misapplication of priority,” he said.

Bagu explained that the sack of the management team was not aimed at witch haunting anybody in the Directorate but to move the club to a greater height.

Continuing, the Special Adviser said that the state government has earmarked over N15 million naira for the renovation of the Directorate and other sporting activities in the state, assuring that the money would be utilized judiciously.

” The fact that the management team of the club lacked priorities is what informed the decision to sack the management team so as to pave way for the club to regain its balance,” he said.

“It is no longer a secret but a reality that the club was moving with the lowest ebb,” he maintained.

He noted that it has become very imperative to sack the management team so as to place the club at the standard it is supposed to be, considering the whopping sums of money being spent by the state government monthly or yearly.

Bagu said that if the money were being spent according to plan, the club would have gone beyond the level it found itself.
