Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho has admitted it ia almost impossible for him to guide his team to top four finish this season.
Mourinho’s side suffered a 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Saturday, meaning that the Portuguese has been defeated twice by his former player, Frank Lampard this season.
The loss also leaves Spurs four points behind the Blues.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso ensured that Chelsea tighten their grip on fourth position.
Asked about his side’s chances of finishing top four, Mourinho told talkSPORT: “It’s very, very difficult.
“But like the boys did today, we are going to fight until the end.
“Today, we fought until the last second of the game and in terms of fourth, we are going to fight until it’s mathematically impossible.”
Antonio Rudiger’s 89th minute own goal gave Spurs a glimmer of hope of salvaging a draw, but the Blues held on.
