Natalie Portman Swings Thor’s Hammer, Insecure Trolls Lose Their Minds

Natalie Portman is waking up a new generation of frost giants. Crusty men are rising up all across the Internet, angry that Portman will now be wielding Mjolnir, Thor’s famous hammer.

Marvel’s Next Thor: Natalie Portman

The news was announced on Saturday at Comic-Con International in San Deigo. Portman has appeared in 2011’s “Thor” and 2013’s “Thor: The Dark World” as Thor’s romantic interest, astrophysicist Jane Foster.

The new film titled “Thor: Love and Thunder” will follow a storyline that first appeared in the comic book series in 2014. In this saga, Nick Fury whispers something into Thor’s ear which causes him to be unworthy to wield Mjolnir. His hammer remains stuck on the moon. Even Odin, Thor’s father, fails to secure it.

The hammer then begins telepathically communicating with Jane Foster and eventually leads her to the moon. From there, she manages to wield the hammer and become the Goddess of Thunder.

So… all of you dumbasses that decide to bash a female Thor… There have been a bunch of different Thors, YES INCLUDING JANE FOSTER! Thor dies, Jane Foster picks up the hammer and is worthy, so yeah… it’s canon. pic.twitter.com/sTuNjczE0o

Thor Announcement Unleashes the Trolls

One irate fanboy seems to have forgotten this plotline, saying that “Thor is a male character” and “Democrat PC will wreck the world.”

Give me a f’m break…I’m a Natalie Portman fan but Thor is a male character… When do we get a male Wonder Women? Democrat PC will wreck the world. Stand up and say NO

Other “fans” don’t seem to care that the plotline of the new movie holds up. One tweeter can’t seem to accept the size of the new Thor.

So Natalie Portman is playing female Thor in #ThorLoveAndThunder…. Waiting eagerly to see 5ft and 100lb chick swinging a mighty hammer 😂 can’t wait pic.twitter.com/8PvMuWMHzi

Considering 2017’s “Thor: Ragnorak” opens with the 200-pound Chris Hemsworth battling a demon the size of a small skyscraper, it seems odd to center your disbelief around bodyweight. The troll, by the way, is adorably named “if You block me I win.” I’m guessing he has “won” a lot.

Meanwhile, Pickles the Drummer, a Twitter troll who takes pride in the fact that he retweets every single Trump tweet, is worried that Hollywood is becoming too female.

A female Thor? Is Hollywood making EVERYTHING female nowadays?

Considering that the “Avengers: Endgame” cast was still predominantly male, the window of male-dominated superheroes is still wide-open. That window, however, does seem to be closing ever so slightly.

Natalie Portman Joins a Growing Female Superhero Contingent

With Portman’s starring role, she joins a growing cast of female actors cast as lead superheroes.

Gal Gadot starred in 2017’s “Wonder Woman.” Brie Larsen secured the titular role in the controversial Captain Marvel. Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson will become the first openly LGBTQ superhero in the marvel cinematic universe. Scarlett Johansson will star in a standalone “Black Widow” movie. And Angelina Jolie just landed her first Marvel role in “The Eternals.”

Others on Twitter are pumped about the new developments.

Natalie Portman: I don’t wanna play damsel in distress, call me when you have good roles for women

MCU: hey we have a good role for you

Natalie Portman: much better, I’ll do that

Dumb people: oh god she’s so inconsistent, her beliefs are so fragile
