Mum forced to quit job after nightmare toddler gets expelled from nursery

A mum at the end of her tether was forced to quit her job after her daughter’s behaviour became so dangerous she was kicked out of nursery.

Joanne and her three year old, Lottie, featured on 5star’s Britain’s Naughtiest Nursery last night, which showcases life at a centre for challenging todders.

Mum Joanne told staff that Lottie was a ‘danger to herself’ thanks to her ‘daredevil antics’ of climbing on furniture and breaking away to run across roads.

Lottie also uses the f-word liberally and often gives her mother the finger.

Having already been excluded from one nursery, Joanne was forced to give up her job to be able to look after her, as reported by the Daily Mail .

Turning to Britain’s Naughtiest Nursery for help, the mum explained she’s not able to take her eye off her daughter for a second due to her love of climbing on chairs, window sills, kitchen sins and washing machines.

“I don’t get a minute, I need eyes all around her,” she said.

“‘She doesn’t care about consequences, you can take her away from the situation, and she’ll just go back and do exactly the same.

“You think ‘what have I done wrong?’ – I’m absolutely exhausted with it all.”

When Lottie was at nursery, Joanne was called up to three time a week to go and collect her, and said discipline just didn’t seem to work.

She teared up as she explained to child psychologist Laverne Antrobus that she feared Lottie would eventually hurt herself.

After a few days observing Lottie’s behaviour at the nursery, the staff figured out that although she enjoyed the thrill of climbing, she also got a kick out of the reaction that adults give her for doing it.

As a solution to help Joanne cope with Lottie’s passion for physical exploration, her daughter was allowed to experiment with boxes of jelly, which she used her hands and feet to touch with complete delight.

They also discovered that she was more focused on tasks when she had something in her mouth – but suggested Joanne found something safer than the dangerous items Lottie often chomped on, such as bottle lids.
