Milan donate €250,000 to support the Coronavirus emergency

Milan have announced a donation of €250,000 to support the Coronavirus emergency and CEO Ivan Gazidis insists “there are more important things in life than football”.

The Rossoneri have communicated their support of the local hospitals and in addition reimbursed all the fans who had tickets for the game against Genoa at San Siro last weekend.

“AC Milan and the Milan foundation have decided to donate €250,000 to AREU (The Company of Regional Emergency and Urgency), an agency committed to dealing with health emergencies in the Lombardy region,” the announcement reads.

“The donation will support AREU’s efforts in providing all assistance needed for those affected by the Covid-19 virus.

“The club, already before the game against Genoa – played behind closed doors following the governments provisions for the containment of the virus – had decided to reimburse all fans, both those in possession of the single ticket and the season ticket holders.

“Following numerous requests from the Rossoneri faithful on social media, the club starts a process with which it is possible to contribute by donating the reimbursement for the Coronavirus emergency.”

CEO Gazidis added that the Diavolo are “united” with their fans in the battle against the spread of the Coronavirus and claimed that the “health and safety of our loved ones is our maximum priority”.

“There are more important things in life than football,” Gazidis added. “At a time when we all have to take care of those who are most vulnerable, we must act with the utmost responsibility, following the indications of the competent authorities.

“On behalf of the club, I am proud to support, through this donation, the admirable efforts put in place by all those who are working to face this emergency.

“The health and safety of our loved ones is our maximum priorities. Even our fans are going through this difficult time and are worried about their loved ones.

“Milan are more than a club. It’s a community where we take care of each other, one community that represent Milan all over the world. We are united, side by side with all our fans. We have already announced that we will refund all those who have shown their love for Milan and we will take further steps to support our fans and help them overcome this difficult moment, returning their unaffected support of our club.”
