The 54-year-old could not outshine his opponent in the eighth round bout as they settled for a draw at the end of the match.

Though not as many fans were allowed into the arena, it was, however, a massive commercial success with 1.2 million pay-per-view buys.

According to Daily Mail quoting boxing insider’s Dan Rafael, the number could have risen beyond 1.2m at the end of the event.

The publication reveals that the UFC fight between Nigeria’s Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal is the only event that made more money than the exhibition bout.

And this means the legends staged the biggest pay-per-view fight so far this year in boxing – meaning Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder’s epic fight could not match their revenue generation.

The WBC heavyweight bout attracted the attention of about 800,000 and 850,000 pay-per-view sales, though priced higher at £59.

Tyson and Jones’ bout also eclipsed Conor McGregor’s fight against Donald Cerrone, which picked up 1million buys.

Reports claim that the streaming service reportedly paid over £37 million to secure the fight and will have more than made a profit.

Meanwhile, Tyson has fulfiled his promise by donating his income from the exhibition fight to charity

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that former heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, was attacked by a fan after his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr at the Staples Centre over the weekend.

Both boxers who came out of retirement treated their fans to some exciting moments but none could outshine each other as the fight ended in a stalemate.

And immediately after the bout, the 54-year-old was almost involved with another fight on his way out of the Arena.
