Manolas scores first Napoli goal

Napoli beat Serie C side Feralpisalò 5-0 in today’s friendly, including the debut Kostas Manolas goal, as Lorenzo Insigne impressed Carlo Ancelotti.

The Partenopei played their second match of the pre-season training camp in Dimaro this evening.

Former Roma defender Manolas nodded in the opener, followed by a Simone Verdi brace, Lorenzo Tonelli goal on a corner and Gennaro Tutino solo effort.

“It was a good test, above all to try out the attacking pressing game,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The players are all gradually arriving and we can test more defined tactical options.”

Insigne impressed in a different role to last season, as he was moved to wide left, leaving Amin Younes and Dries Mertens upfront.

“Lorenzo can play all along the front line, as far as I am concerned. He prefers to start on the left and today he made a big impact, including as he stepped inside to set up his teammates.

“I above all liked what he did in the second half, when he showed more individual initiative.”

Ancelotti was also asked about the transfer activity at the club, as they continue the search for a new forward.

“The club is taking care of it, they know what we need and by August 31 we’ll be perfect.”

Napoli: Contini (Idasiak 72); Di Lorenzo (Malcuit 46), Manolas (Tonelli 46), Maksimovic (Luperto 46), Mario Rui (Hysaj 46); Callejon (Tutino 65), Gaetano, Zielinski (Palmiero 61), Insigne; Younes (Verdi 46), Mertens
