Liverpool can move eight points clear at the top of the table with victory at Manchester United on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have enjoyed an unblemished start to the campaign with eight wins from as many matches to set the pace in the title race.

Meanwhile, United have won just twice all season and are hovering just a point above the Premier League drop zone.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given a vote of confidence by Red Devils chief Ed Woodward but a heavy defeat at Old Trafford could push him closer to the exit door.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Rojo, Young, McTominay, Fred, Pereira, James, Rashford.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Origi

Follow all the build up, action and reaction below.

The game will be televised on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event and can be live streamed on the Sky Sports app.

31′

An attacking change from Klopp.

Mane has come more central to join Firmino.

Something big needs to change if the table toppers can get a hold of this.

Saying that both sides have had three shots so far – none have been vaguely memorable.

28′

United keep on coming.

Wan Bissaka delivers a beauty into the box and it needs a good clearance to divert the danger.

The noise in Old Trafford suggests they believe something is about to happen.

A proper crescendo every time United get the ball.

25′

This has been a strange half from Liverpool.

The lack of Salah has meant a loss of creativity and energy seems to have had a bigger effect than it has had in the past.

The midfield of Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldum is being bypassed every time as well.

Meanwhile, McTominay drives forward and shoots but maybe a pass might have been better advised.

Easy Alisson save.

21′

Periera takes aim on the edge of the box but his shot skirts out for a corner.

United haven’t scored from a set piece this season – the only side in the Premier League not to do so.

They aren’t ending that sorry stat here as Alisson punches clear.

Some extended Liverpool time on the ball.

But Origi’s cross from the left is chested and defended in the box by Young and cleared.

On the counter Rashford attempts to slip in James but Matip steps in.

17′

United have been by far the better side so far.

They have been controlling possession and dealing comfortably with Liverpool.

But the attacking has been toothless.

And that is summed up by James getting into the area then trying a flick – which is easily defended.

13′

This game is starting to open up.

Wijnaldum uses his dancing feed to skip to a shooting position on the edge of the area.

His shot is on target but lacking in power and straight at de Gea.

12′

At the other end Pereira doesn’t get hold of a long range effort.

Just outside the area and dragged horribly.

The Brazilian then gets into a tangle with van Dijk.

Robertson does well to block a free kick from the right.

Then Firmino has possibly the worst shot of the season.

A horror slice and shank highbred while sails in the stands.

8′

Also notable is how Rashford is drifting out to the left flank.

That is where he played, and starred, for England in Bulgaria and is his more natural position.

It means Pereira and James are moving more central more regularly.

United have been attacking more in the last couple of minutes but still no chances to speak of.

5′

A lot of turn overs in possession in the opening five minutes.

The most notably thing about United is how high up the field Wan Bissaka and Young are playing.

Even Rojo find himself in an advanced position.

3′

Origi has an early run on the right but Wan Bissaka cuts him off.

The Belgian then gives away a foul.

But the Reds regain the ball quickly.

1′

United get the ball running.

Wan Bissaka tries a long early ball but van Dijk nods into touch.

Some nervous energy from both sides.

I feel it was lost a little bit in the Salah news…

But Alisson is back!

Graeme Souness slams Man Utd’s “fetish” for using younger players

Graeme Souness has hit out at Manchester United’s youth policy and accused the club of having a “fetish” of bringing youngsters through to the first team.

“Ever since the Busby Babes, the club have made a fetish out of youth,” he wrote in the Sunday Times.

“In itself, that is no bad thing, especially at a club which subsequently brought George Best through its ranks and then produced the Class of 92.

“It’s possible that the likes of Marcus Rashford, James Garner and Mason Greenwood might go on to emulate their illustrious predecessors — though I’m sceptical — but just because they have been picked to start for United while they are still teenagers doesn’t make it so.

“The difficulty is compounded by the fact that they are being thrust into a team which is shorn of authority and confidence.”

Steven Gerrard’s prediction

Was Mr Liverpool going to go for anything other than a Liverpool win today?

In fact he was a bit annoyed at being asked about the game in his Rangers press conference.

“Are you going to continue to ask me these silly questions? They have played eight games and won eight.

“The front three are in fantastic form. They haven’t conceded many goals. They are European champions.

“Do you want any other reasons why? Did you think I was going to say anything different? Come on!”
