Martial played no part in United’s stunning 3-2 comeback win over Southampton on Sunday, November 29, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting to partner Marcus Rashford with Mason Greenwood upfront.

Metro UK reports the Frenchman was with the contingent that travelled to Southampton but had to stay back in the team hotel after he was taken ill as his teammates fought from two goals down to win the clash.

Edinson Cavani, who came on as a substitute in the second half helped inspire the Red Devils to a thrilling comeback, netting a brace as he set up Bruno Fernandes for another.

Further reports on Martial’s condition have since surfaced, with English media reporting the forward lasted only 11 minutes in training before he was sent home.

It is understood he reported to training on Monday morning, but the club had no choice but to allow him stay back as he continues his recovery.

It now remains unclear if he could play any role when United take on Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, December 2, in the Champions League.

His possible absence could see Cavani drafted in the starting line up to face his former side in the Group H fixture.

The Manchester club currently top the standings in the pool and a win over PSG will all but help them qualify for the next round of the continental showpiece.

His post on social media was labelled as ‘racist’ in which the former Paris-Saint-Germain star had to delete it after serious heat from football fans.

According to the latest report on Mirror UK, Edinson Cavani explained that he never knew that the post he made would generate such comments from fans.
