– Marcos Rojo was shipped out on loan to boyhood club Estudiantes in January after he struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

– The centre-back who joined United in 2014 had been limited to just 10 appearances this season before he left for Estudiantes

– The Argentine club are leading the chase to sign him permanently but rivals Boca Juniors are also understood to be interested in the defender

Man United are reportedly hoping to offload out-of-favour Marcos Rojo once the summer transfer window opens.

Rojo is currently on loan with Argentine side Estudiantes who he joined during the winter window.

But with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deeming him surplus requirements, the Red Devils are set to open bidding war for the centre-back this summer.

Mail Online reports Estudiantes are already keen to make Rojo’s loan deal permanent, but rivals Boca Juniors have also shown interest in acquiring the 30-year-old.

Rojo has featured only once for Estudiantes with a knee injury hampering his progress with the side again.

The defender, who has been at Old Trafford for more than five years now has just a year left on his current deal with the Red Devils.

He was signed by the Manchester club in 2014 from Sporting Lisbon in a £16m deal under then boss Louis van Gaal.

He has since made more than 120 appearances in a red shirt, but has been limited to just 10 with Solskjaer preferring the partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo is hoping he can plead with Shanghai Shenhua to allow him to extend his stay at Manchester United beyond the initial expiration date.

The 30-year-old striker moved to Old Trafford on a six months loan deal in late January from the Chinese based club.

His deal was due at the end of this season but the outbreak of deadly coronavirus means he would not stay until the Premier League is concluded.

The Chinese League is expected to kick off in the seventh month behind closed doors and Shanghai want their player back if the Red Devils are not willing to sign him outrightly.
