Sometimes people have to create paths for themselves and with a little help, they can make a success.
One man, uTata Matshaya, has started his own strawberry farm in the Khayelitsha township. His inspiring story was shared by the Township Farmers group on Facebook.
Township Farmers supports Matshaya with his endeavour by donating the tools that he needs to succeed, including eco pellets, seedlings, compost and organic fertiliser.
The post added:
“With no source of income and work experience he started growing his own veggies and slowly got into community farming projects where he learned valuable skills which he used to start his own home garden where he now not only grows strawberries but a variety of fruit trees like apple and peach trees.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a woman, Pulane Tlhone, won over South Africans with her forward-thinking and desire to help others.
Tlhone shared several photos where she can be seen doing manual work to create a large garden in her backyard. She revealed she plans on planting veggies to feed her family and her community.

Tlhone captioned her post: “I’m starting a winter garden during my lockdown. This will help my family and also my community! Let us all start our gardens. It will be worth it.”
The post generated over 32,000 reactions and South Africans applauded Tlhone for taking the initiative to create food certainty for not only her family, but other members of the community as well.
