Manchester City are on the verge of completing a move for Portugal international Ruben Dias in a deal around €55 million.

The deal will also see Nicolas Otamendi head the other way as the Citizens are planning to strengthen their backline.

Reports claim the 23-year-old has agreed to join the Etihad Stadium outfit on a five deal while the Argentine will move to Benfica on a three-year deal.

The Guardian claims City are willing to allow their defender leave for a fee of about €15 million after five years at the club.

Dutch defender Nathan Ake joined them from Bournemouth in a deal around €45m. Ferran Torres moved to the Etihad Stadium for €23 million.

Pablo Moreno, Yan Couto and Issa Kabore also joined the Premier League outfit during this transfer window.

Man City were earlier linked with a move for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly but could not meet the demands of the Senegal international. His club will not entertain any offer less than €80m.

Dias graduated to Benfica’s senior team from the academy and has been superb for them since then, and his arrival at the Etihad could see Eric Garcia join Barcelona.

The 19-year-old Spaniard wants to return back to the Catalan City with his contract due to expire next summer and Barca are expected to step up their interest.

Meanwhile, they will have to sell Jean-Clair Todibo to raise funds, with Everton and Fulham reportedly interested in the French defender.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester City will hope they can maintain their winning run when they welcome Leicester City to the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The Citizens kicked off the 2020-21 campaign with a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium last weekend.

However, the victory did not come without losing one of their players to injury as Gabriel Jesus is said to have been added to City’s injury list.
