Fans at the Estadio do Dragao were concerned when the 29-year-old did not get up immediately after the clash.

He managed to get himself back into the pitch but did not last long before he was substituted on the hour mark for Gabriel Jesus.

De Bruyne could not watch the remaining minutes of the game as he was quickly rushed to the hospital before discovering the extent of damage on his nose and eye.

However, the midfielder revealed on his Twitter handle that he was alright but losing the cup to Chelsea was still on his mind.

“My diagnosis is Acute nose bone fracture and left orbital fracture.

“I feel okay now. But disappointed about the loss to Chelsea but we will be back.”

De Bruyne is now a doubt for Euro 2020 but Belgium coach Roberto Martinez could risk keeping the midfielder knowing full well that his side will go far in the competition.

The Red Devils will open their campaign against Russia on June 12, then take on Denmark five days later before playing their last group game against Finland on June 21.
