Nigerians on social media woke up to the heartbreaking news of the death of reggae music icon Majekodunmi Fashaeke popularly known by many as Majek Fashek.

Following the news of the singer’s death, thousands of music lovers have flooded social media to mourn the veteran musician and leave parting words for him.

Many also took to their individual social media pages to shares photos and videos of the late singer all in a bid to mourn his passing.

Recall that Legit.ng had earlier reported that the singer’s manager, Omenka Uzoma Day, had taken to his social media page to break the news of his passing.

The manager also urged Nigerians to celebrate the passing of the late Majek Majek instead of mourning.

“Majek Fashek, one of Africa’s greatest Reggae Artists has passed on. He was the first African Artist to be signed to Interscope Records in 1990 ($20 million deal). He performed on the Late Nite Show With David Letterman in 1992. Bob Marley’s wife, Rita once gifted him $100,000,” one Twitter user wrote in celebration of the late reggae musician’s memory.

Also mourning the death of the singer, politician Sheu Sanni wrote: “Some years ago I met Majek Fashek near a train station in New York before he returned to Nigeria.He was a shadow of d man many of us loved decades ago. Majek rode through a rough & dangerous terrain in Life.He tried to pick up & now is gone.He was an unforgettable http://legend.RIP”
