Alisson was the unlikely match hero on Sunday, May 16, as he headed home in the 95th minute to boost Liverpool’s Champions League hopes.

With the scores 1-1 deep in the second half, the Brazilian goalkeeper came up for a corner which was virtually the last kick of the game to head in as the visitors secured an incredible win at the Hawthorns.

Hal Robson-Kanu had earlier handed the hosts an early lead before Mohamed Salah drew his side level in the 33rd minute before Becker produced a moment of magic to help the Reds secure all three points.

Speaking during an emotional post-match interview, Becker divulged into the tragic death of his father after he drowned in Brazil back in February.

“I’m too emotional, these last months for everything that happened with me, my family,” Metro UK quoted Becker saying.

“But football is my life, I play since I remember as a human being with my father, I hope he was here to see it, but I’m sure that he’s seen with God on his side and celebrating,” he added.

It is understood old Becker had gone swimming in southern Brazil at a dam near Rencao de Inferno before he was declared missing.

Cacapava do Sul Fire Department led desperate searches for Jose, with his body being discovered much later.

The tragic incident sparked tributes from all quarters in the football arena led by Brazilian club Internacional, who both Alisson and his elder brother, Muriel, turned out for.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Alisson Becker was the hero as Liverpool come from one goal down to beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 in a thrilling Premier League encounter at The Hawthorns on Sunday, May 16.

The Brazilian goalkeeper threw everything on the line after leaving his goalpost to contend for the ball in what appeared to be the last kick of the game in the opposition’s danger zone.

His move however paid off as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner kick met his head and went straight into the top corner of the post.
